Food for philosophical thought
I ran across this post yesterday. (Warning, it is a really long read, but well worth it if you can find the time) I found it intellectually amusing. I don't agree with its overall premise, nor some of the theories it proposes, but that's ok. The best part is that I DON'T HAVE TOO!! Ha-ha!
Remember when I rambled on about 'Truth is Truth" from the movie Enemy Mine? The same theory holds true here. People who are spiritual (regardless of which religion they subscribe too), do not resort to violence to convert each other. Only theological extremists do that, and they are fading from the stage of human history (although that is sometimes hard to see, historically they really are fading). So even if we don't agree on what path we need to take to get there, we (as a species) can still get there, so long as we don't self-destruct first.
There are other amusing articles on that site, although I haven't found any quite as compelling as the first. It does present a different style of blogging though, one that I find tempting to try. But that would not be true to my purpose here. This is more for my benefit to look back on later and see where my head was (and perhaps for my sons to refer back to as well). I know I'm not going to convert anyone to my way of thinking here, and I'm not trying to convince anyone too. I do talk to myself to solidify and define in words what it is I believe and why. I ponder, express, ramble, and stumble around, and then once in a while give an update about what is going on in my life to give some reference points. I think this continues to serve that purpose well.
