From a muse named Persephone

You were a concept, an idea, a vessel of joy and love.

You were going to brighten the day of all you met, and lighten the hearts of the world.

You would have been beautiful, both inside and out, and would have known how to share that bright beauty with world. How to help others see and appreciate the beauty within them as well, and help them to a sense of wholeness, complete.

We would learn, grow, suffer, and cry together and at each other, and enjoy the whole circle of life together. We would teach you, groom you, educate you. You would challenge us, ignite our passions, hold us to our words, to our teachings, and we would all blossom together.

We would teach you how to pray, how to light the candle. How to stoke the fires with your higher power so that you would be warmed by it, but never burned. Never consumed.

We would be with you when you walked down the aisle, to say goodbye to your old family, and to kindle a new one of your own.

Then we would share all of the remaining experiences of life, until our time in this life was done, and we could continue again in the next.

. . . .

But you were not allotted any time in this life.

You never completed your journey from Heaven to Earth.

. . . .

And so you remain only a sparkle in our eyes, and a flame in our hearts and minds.

Until we are united in the next life, and our flames will join together in a brightly burning beacon of joy and celebration. Then we will show the way to that perfect love, perfect harmony, and perfect light. . . .

For now, that light seems so dim, so still, and so far away from us.

For now, I weep in that darkness, and feel so alone, though I know we are not.

For now, I just miss you. And I know that you miss us too.

I could have written those very words, once upon a time.

Thank you for sharing.
