All Hallow's Eve - 2006

It's that time of year again. That time that my family and I go out and scare the masses of humanity with how silly we can be. Here's how 'The Team' is going to look this year.

In case you can't make it out, we're all in Raider gear. I am a coach, Brandi is a cheerleader, Marcus is a player, and Joshua is a football. We got quite a few looks walking into the mall to take these pictures today. It was fun. I love football. And I really enjoy the chance to dress up and be silly and get treats and enjoy ourselves for a day. That's what holidays are supposed to be all about.

In an interesting twist on life, I have not always been able to enjoy Halloween as fully as I do now. When I was whelped, my father was part of an organization that did not celebrate very many holidays (the organization shall remain nameless, but it started with an 'S', and ended with 'eventh Day Adventist')

As such, I can vividly recall a number of holiday's passing me by while other children celebrated and did all sorts of things that seemed particularly fun. I feel very fortunate that I am now in a position to enjoy these events with my sons. None of us know how much time we have in this life, and making the most of these opportunities seems like a good idea to me. And to those who focus their attentions on the shadier parts of this holiday, I can only say this . .

"Thbbtbtbtbtbtbt" (That would be a raspberry by the way)

Holidays are what YOU make them. If you decide to focus on the historical pains and evils done on every day of the calendar, I suspect you would never get out of bed. Yes, bad things have happened, and bad things have been done by people to other people on certain days of the year, and we do not want to celebrate those particular acts. But I'm not going to party for those acts, I'm going to celebrate an opportunity to gather as a family within a greater community, and have some freaken fun with my kids! If you don't like, don't go!

I wish my father had made the most of similar opportunities with my sister and I. The world would be a merrier place.

I've got 2 more shots to share, both of Marcus (Joshua was not interested in taking any of the pictures, as you can probably tell by the looks on mine and Joshua's faces). Marcus held it together really well, and I was very impressed with how well he followed directions in the following shots.

Hmmm. There is apparently limit on the files sizes or something. I can't seem to upload the other 2 pics. Oh well. I'll try again on another entry.

I wish we wouldn't have missed out as well. But here we are. I had a great time with your family on Halloween.
