I survive

The procedure is over. I'm still a little high from the drugs, and very sleepy, but ecstatic that I can EAT again.

I was out for pretty much the entire thing. They started the drugs through an IV, and then sprayed some stuff on the back of my throat, and the next thing I remember was waking up about 70 minutes later. The worst part by far was all of the prep work yesterday, and all of the hurry up and wait thing this morning. Waiting for someone to come to the desk. Waiting for them to take my paperwork. Waiting on the stretcher for 40 minutes in the cold procedure room listening to the beep of my pulse over the monitor.

It's a very strange sensation to be able to tell how nervous I am by how rapidly my heart is beating. Then I'd concentrate on my breathing to get the pulse back down, then I'd get nervous again it would go beep-beep-beep-beep again. Yeah, by far the worst part is waiting when all you want is to get this damn thing over with.

But once it is over, life is much better. My chest hurts every time I eat anything, but I don't care. And I've very grateful for all sorts of food right now. I'd even eat tofu or Chinese food right now. :)
