Movie Review part two (reloaded)

Ok, let's try this again, this time using a text editor that knows how to periodically SAVE!

Greetings from the land of the quiet! If you're wondering why I've been so quiet, here it is. If you haven't been wondering, skip the next couple of paragraphs.

Work! Work has a lot of stuff going on right now. A time of great change, mostly for the better. I've been blessed with a lot of good people to surround me during this changeover period, so it will be fine. But in the meantime I'm very involved in a number of different projects that I like to micro-manage a little bit to be sure they go as smoothly as possible and doesn't break anything.

Games! I got to play the World of Warcraft stress test for 10 days. That was a blast. Unfortunates it hit at the same time that things got busy at work, so I wasn't really able to play as much I would have liked, but I got a good taste of the game has to offer. I found it yummy. Also, I got invited to the Jump to Lightspeed beta test. The less said about this the better (for all sorts of reasons, not the least of which is a very strict Non-Disclosure Agreement).

But, in the midst of all this, I got to see a movie! Last weekend Brandi spent some quality out and away from the kids with some friends on Saturday and again on Sunday. By way of thanks she bought me a ticket to see I, Robot on Tuesday night. This was a movie I expected to be long on action and visual effects, and short on plot and story-line. I was pleansantly surprised to be wrong. The action and visual effects were all there, but the plot and story-line impressed the heck out of me. The characters developed quite nicely on the inside and the outside. The audience learns more about them and they learn more about themselves as the story progesses. It was great. They even explored some of Asimov's major themes from his robot series of books. That was surprising. They even had the where-with-all to not overdo it with the AI. They kinda said, "We've all seen this one before, it is what it is, so let's just move on with some other cool stuff shall we?". Great call.

So, if you want to enjoy a movie for its glitz and glamour, and still have some interesting themes to discuss when you walk out of the theater, this is the show for you. Hmmmm, now I get it! That's why Brandi sent me to the movie, so we could discuss it afterwards! I really should pay more attention to her motives :)
