Another one bites the dust

So for those of you that know me, I've been playing computer games since .. . well . .. forever. We couldn't always afford a computer that could run the current games, in which case I would play old games on old systems, and was very happy. The only difficult part with this is that from time to time, I have to set a game aside because, basically, it's not fun anymore.

I recently cancelled my subscription to my current game, for exactly the same reasons. The game has been buggy for the past year, and now they're going to work on the expansion for it before they fix the game. Go figure. I could deal with this if I was still having fun immersing myself in this virtual world, but I'm not. Most of my closest friends are no longer playing it, and have planned to try it out again after the expansion. I may wait until after that, when they've got the bugs fixed, or just pick up something new and exciting and move on from there.

The annoying part is that I've invested a lot of time and fun into this game, and my character has become moderately powerful and respected (which is always nice). But who cares!? It's a game! (I know Brandi is happy to see the end of it, at least for a while) But now I'm left playing around with other stuff to fulfill my game needs. I really should have waited another month until football season got going, but I don't tend to think that far in advance :)

This is part of being a man I think. I'm not very mechanically inclined. I'm not very good with tools or cars or making things with my hands. I'm much better with computers and people and sports and problem solving and min-maxing. I think most guys feel a need to fix things (cars or computers or situations or sporting events). I really enjoy playing games where I get to figure things out, develop a character, and help people (almost always play a crafting or healing character). I enjoy sports the same way, and am happiest playing coach from the comfort of my own home, screaming stratagems at the television (as if my team can hear me). And now football will begin soon, as well as the Summer Olympics! (when I get to scream stratagems in-between chanting U_S_A, U_S_A!!!)

Ahhh, it's a good time to be alive.

This is a test comment, just to see if it's working.
